CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU for making the 2011 summer tourism season one for the record books. This past July marked the best month ever for the Bend tourism industry and the 20th consecutive month of year-over-year increases in transient room tax collections (see TRT chart here).
The summer tourism season is in full swing and Bend is on a roll! June represented the SEVENTH consecutive month of year-over-year increases in room tax collections, and for the fiscal year that ended June 30th, Bend tourism outperformed the state, nation and our competitive tourism destinations.
Summer has arrived and Bend’s tourism industry is experiencing very strong momentum. May represented the SIXTH consecutive month of year-over-year increases in TRT collections, and June and July are projected to be up substantially over 2009.

After nearly two years of decreasing transient room tax collections in the City of Bend, I’m happy to report that December broke the negative streak in impressive fashion, posting a 22.7% year-over-year increase for the month, and January was up slightly from last year despite a forecasted 20% decrease.

This past July marked the first month since October 2008 that the number of rented room nights in the City of Bend surpassed the prior year’s performance.
