May 2010

Hello Tourism Partners,
Spring is here and the summer tourism season is right around the corner! After 21 months of negative trending in our tourism industry, I am very happy to report that each of the past 4 months have posted year-over-year increases in transient room tax collections (see TRT report below).

While this positive trend is likely not the end of the challenges for our tourism industry, it is a significant step in the right direction and provides strong momentum as we approach the summer months.

From Visit Bend’s summer television and radio campaigns, to national caliber events like the 2010 National Beard & Moustache Championships and the USA Cycling National Championships, there are several important tourism updates that you should be aware of.

Please take a few minutes to read the tourism updates below and, as usual, please let us know if you have any questions, comments, concerns or ideas.

Thank you for your continued support of Bend tourism.

All the Best,

Doug La Placa
President/CEO

Summer Advertising Campaign

With so much attention focused on the large events coming to Bend, it’s easy to forget that the vast majority of our visitors come to simply relax, sightsee, and enjoy the great outdoors of Central Oregon. With that in mind, Visit Bend’s largest annual investment is aggressive TV and radio advertising in our primary markets. Click below to check out the TV commercials and radio commercials that will be playing from May through September in the Pacific Northwest.

For complete details on Visit Bend’s TV and radio campaigns refer to the Marketing Updates section to the left.
