Carol
Carol lived the big city life in CA, CO, WA, and OR, before getting the bug to bust a move and try "life in a small town". Having been in Bend for 4 plus years now since her move from Portland in 2008, she doesn't think of Bend as "small" at all. In fact - she now finds it hard to ever leave as every season brings fresh fun to look forward to. Carol loves just about everything about Central Oregon and is excited about the efforts to make Bend a truly world class destination location to live, work, play and vacation. Her favorite things about being a volunteer at Visit Bend are meeting and talking with all of the diverse people who call or come into the visitor center, learning more about what our region and city have to offer, and working with the terrific staff that are playing a key role in helping to make Bend all it can be.
Chip
Chip is a lifelong computer professional who moved to Bend after 33 years in Alaska. Since he telecommutes from home, he really enjoys getting out and meeting people. Chip enjoys hiking, golfing and music, and is very thankful for this volunteer opportunity at Visit Bend.
Cindi
Cindi has loved Bend for 45 years… it just took her a little time to get here (Winter 2010). She followed her son who shares a passion for Bend and the surrounding area. She has a degree in Recreation Administration from Humboldt State University in Arcata, Ca (her home town). She spends her time hiking with her dog Daizy, practicing yoga and attending as many events as possible (it can be exhausting!). She wanted to volunteer at Visit Bend to help spread the word of what an awesome area it is. Who couldn’t love this place?
Deborah
Deborah started visiting Central Oregon with her family over 20 years ago. In 2004, she and her husband were able to make Bend their permanent home. Her car’s license plate frame reads “My Life is Better than Your Vacation”. That’s tongue-in-cheek of course, but she does enjoy the variety of cultural, dining and outdoor adventures as well as the friendly people she has met. A perfect day might include mountain biking, skiing, golf, paddling or hiking with friends – or better yet, a little of each. At Visit Bend, she enjoys introducing others to this incredible area & sharing the ‘Bend Life’!
Demy
A 13-year resident, Demy was drawn to Bend from the San Francisco Bay Area by the combination of scenic beauty, small town warmth and city sophistication. When not volunteering at Visit Bend, she can be found skiing or trekking in the mountains, golfing on one of the local courses, taking a class at Central Oregon Community College or enjoying a concert or theatrical production. Demy enjoys the opportunity to meet new people and share her love of Bend.
Jan
Jan was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and retired from the Chevron Corp. in 2004. She and her father moved to Bend in early 2006. It was his desire to return to Oregon, the state in which both he and her mother grew up. She enjoys a lot of hiking in the Bend area and reading a good thriller or mystery. She lives with her dog Sherlock, who is a female toy poodle. She enjoys volunteering at Visit Bend because she is a “people person” and gets to meet folks from all over the world!
Janet
Janet lived in Humboldt County, CA for 24 years and would vacation with her family in Bend and Sunriver. When the kids moved to Portland she and her husband made the move to Bend and now feel like they are on a permanent vacation. She enjoys hiking, golfing, tennis, biking, swimming , snowshoeing and volunteering at Visit Bend !
Jane
Prior to arriving in Bend, Jane was a Director for Nike Inc. in Portland for over 16 years. Every vacation possible she loved to relax, ski, hike and bike in Central Oregon and finally was able to relocate here in 2006. Jane’s plan was,
I will try it out and can always move back, but it took 1 week before she never cared to go back home over the mountain. Jane wanted to share her enthusiasm and knowledge of the area by showing visitors how easy the transition to relocate is. Instrumental in this is by giving back, helping and assisting visitors by volunteering at Visit Bend.
Josefa
Josefa managed a travel agency in Anchorage, Alaska, for 23 years before moving to Bend in May of 2007. An avid hiker and runner, Josefa found Bend to be a perfect fit for her active lifestyle. Her desire to learn more about Bend, her background in travel, and her enjoyment at meeting new people led her to volunteer for Visit Bend.
