Halloween Cross Crusades
Two full days of epic racing for all categories on the National Championship course at Deschutes Brewery.
The legendary Halloween Cyclocross Crusades race has been drawing crowds in Astoria, OR for years, but now it's Bend's turn to have a little fun. The race will take place at Deschutes Brewery in the Old Mill District on October 29 and 30, 2011.
Witness the fun and mayhem of over 1,000 cyclocross racers donning costumes and competing for Cross Crusade points. In addition to two days of epic racing, attendees will enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of the Deschutes Brewery beer garden, live music, and cultural food and festivities. The collision of cyclocross and art might sound dangerous, but trust us – it's a spectacle you won't want to miss. Soak in the creative energy at the 3rd annual Cross Culture Art + Bike Love experience in downtown Bend celebrating bike art, Bend’s creative culture and the rich artistic heritage of the Dia de los Muertos tradition. The Knights of the Cross Crusade have spoken; therefore, let it be known that on the fifth Saturday of the tenth month of the year 2011, a Clydesdale Champion of the Universe will be knighted. Cyclocross gladiators weighing 200 pounds (1.428 Contadors) or more, and Athenas, female gladiators weighing 160 pounds (1.142 Contadors) or more are eligible to enter the ring of battle. walkers are invited to a special student art exhibit honoring the Day
of the Dead tradition. Westside Village Magnet School students will be
displaying pastel drawings, sugar “calaveras” and paper mache skulls at

Sunday October 30 -
11am-1pm: Commute Options Bicycle Decorating and Kiddie Kross Races in the Old Mill District and Deschutes Brewery.
Kids can decorate their bikes and parade over in time to participate or spectate at the Kiddie Cross Races. Kiddie Kross is a non-competitive event for those 12 and under. Kiddies will be divided into 2 categories based on height and bike type: A's and B's. All 3 wheel bikes or bikes with training wheels are automatically in B's. Kids on two wheels, over established height are A's. B's will do small inner loop specifically designed for them. A's will do ONE lap on the cross course.
