After a long day of hiking, rafting, biking or skiing with the family, it’s time to replenish and relax at one of Bend’s many kid-friendly restaurants. The following is a guide to the most popular dining establishments for families. Most businesses featured on this list have kid’s menus, a lively atmosphere and changing tables. There are many other restaurants in Bend that will happily accommodate kids, so call ahead first.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers
Phone: 541-382-9234

With free balloons, cartoons on the television and fast, friendly service, Red Robin was created with kids in mind. Every Tuesday, the Red Robin bird visits from 6-8 p.m. Let your children play in the arcade station at the front of the restaurant as meals are prepared and you relax with a signature cocktail. Most dinners are delivered in less than ten minutes. The children’s menu features a corn dog, hamburger, chicken burger, and a kid’s quesadilla.

Deschutes Brewery
Phone: 541-382-9242

Children are welcome all day and most of the evening at Deschutes Brewery in downtown Bend, a must stop for visitors looking for a true taste of Central Oregon. The charismatic staff is attentive to the needs of children and will assure a speedy delivery of children’s menu items like salmon fillet, chicken breast, chicken nuggets and fresh vegetables. Arrive early to avoid long waits at this award-winning brewery.

Westside Bakery and Café
Phone: 541-382-3426

Kids will love the toy train that zips around the room at this popular breakfast and lunch spot on Bend’s Westside. The kid’s menu has games and puzzles, and the walls are decorated with 50s and 60s memorabilia from Elvis to Mickey Mouse.

McKay Cottage
Phone: 541-383-2697

Nestled on the shores of the Deschutes River, the McKay Cottage is the former home of Oregon Senator Gordon McKay. Children receive bendable wax sticks and crayons to play with before the meal and the breakfast and lunch menu has kid favorites like grilled cheese, French toast and peanut butter and jelly. The best time to dine at McKay Cottage is in the warmer months when families can enjoy the picnic benches outside.

McMenamins Old St. Francis Pub
Phone: 541-382-5174

Kids are welcome in the pub, and in the movie theater until 9pm. On warm days, sit in the outside courtyard to enjoy food al fresco. Or perhaps order some pizza to go for a picnic anywhere.

Cascade Lakes Lodge
Phone: 541-388-4998

Another must-stop on your brewery tour of Bend, Cascade Lakes Lodge is usually packed with locals and visitors sharing stories of their adventures in the outdoors. The dinosaur chicken nuggets are a kid’s menu favorite, but parents might have more fun than the little ones on the Pac-Man and Donkey Kong arcades.

Flatbread Community Oven
Phone: 541-728-0600

At Flatbread, making pizza is a form of art. Kids can participate in the process by designing their own pie, arranging different ingredients on the pizza and then watching as it is baked in the open-hearth oven.
