XTERRA Trail Run National Championships September 18, 2010
Tree Ducking. River Crossing. Rock Hopping. Hill Climbing. Get ready to experience life where the sidewalk ends and the dirt begins in Bend, Oregon on September 18.  

Bend, which was voted "America's Best Trail Running Town" by the editors of Outside Magazine, will host the XTERRA Trail Run National Championship for the third straight year in 2010. The main event is a 21-kilometer/13.1-mile off-road half-marathon with a $5,000 purse, but the day-long running celebration also features a 5k, 10k and free kids' races. While the field will include elites and competitors who have qualified for Nationals at other events, participation in all races - including the XTERRA Trail Run Nationals - is open to the general public. The cost ranges from $22 to $40, with discounts available for students, military, and runners competing in both the XTERRA and Bigfoot 10k which will take place on Sunday, Sept. 19.

"Our XTERRA U.S. Trail Run Series includes 60 races in 16 states this year," said Tom Kiely, CEO of TEAM Unlimited, owner of XTERRA. "The National Championship is the culmination of this series and we think Bend is the ultimate adventure destination for our biggest race of the year."

Visit Bend, in partnership with the Oregon Sports Authority, were the natural choice to host Nationals due to its variety of terrain, mild fall climate, running-friendly trails, and the enthusiasm, interest and support of the local community.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation.
