NorthWest Crossing Neighborhood and Community of Bend, Oregon

Find out why NorthWest Crossing was named a 2008 Top Ten Cottage Neighborhood by Cottage Living Magazine, which highlights the best places to live across the nation. Walk around the 486-acre neighborhood and you'll find a town center with award-winning restaurants, two public schools, and 32 acres of parks where neighbor's meet and children play. Built partially on a Ponderosa pine tree farm, the community was designed based on the principals of new urbanism, an architectural philosophy that emphasizes pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods integrated with commercial and retail businesses, schools and parks.

Businesses that help to define Central Oregon have also become a part of this exciting new development. Breedlove Guitar Company completed construction on a building within the neighborhood's newest light industrial district. Ruff Wear, a company that makes outdoor gear and toys for pets, just opened their corporate headquarters nearby, and DMK Golf Design, known for projects like Bandon Dunes and the Castle Course at St. Andrews (U.K.) recently relocated its international headquarters to an office in NorthWest Crossing.

NorthWest Crossing's dedication to traditional neighborhood design is also strongly linked to principals of green building. Every home in the neighborhood is required to be Earth Advantage Certified. Two retail buildings in the commercial district were among the first in the state to receive the LEED-CS Silver designation. The community's commitment to green spaces is exemplified in the circular 5-acre park at the center of the neighborhood that feels like a preserved piece of high-desert forest. Compass Park is also part of the interconnected trail and sidewalk system that encourages residents to walk and bike to work and school.

So come visit NorthWest Crossing and see for yourself why neighbors have time for a smile and a hello. Imagine your kids walking to school down the street and then going out for pizza at Pisano's after work. Have a glass of wine from the $5 wine menu and listen to live music at Portello Wine Cafe, or enjoy one of the best margaritas in town paired with authentic mexican fare at La Rosa. Whether you have a young family, or are looking to settle down after a lifetime in the city, NorthWest Crossing is a great place to live, work and play for the environmentally and community minded.
