Bend Metro Park & Recreation District manages 71 parks and 48 miles of trails, including Drake Park in downtown Bend. To learn more about a particular park or trail, click on the title link above.
Hiking, Horseback and Wildnerness Trails
The lower elevation trails (below 4000'/1219m) are open by late April/early May and remain open until late October depending on the snow pack. Trails in the high country (above 4000') may not be accessible until July. Click on the link above for details on each trail.
Pilot Butte State Park
Located off of Hwy 20, on the east side of Bend, this scenic viewpoint offers a panoramic view of the Cascade range to the west and the High Desert to the east. Two trails, each a mile long and one of them paved, lead to the summit. There is no fee to use this park.
Smith Rock State Park
Smith Rock State Park is known worldwide as a premier destination for rock climbing. Famous for Monkey Face, a 350 foot spire resembling a monkey's face, the 651-acre park also offers over seven miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, and wildlife viewing opportunities. Admission fee required.
