A native of Minneapolis, Alan moved to Bend 25 years ago, like so many of us, to ski. Today he is CEO of Bendistillery, makers of Crater Lake Spirits and one of the nation’s pioneering craft distilleries. He and his wife and two daughters are still trying to explore all of Central Oregon.
What’s your Favorite Bend Adventure?
Either a bicycle road ride to the top of McKenzie Pass before they open it to cars, or camping with the family at our secret spot that is a short drive away from 4-star dining at the most unique restaurant tucked away in the woods.
What’s Your Favorite Dining Spot?
There are too many to mention. Bend is home to a culinary scene that would impress the most well-traveled foodie. I love Chow for their dedication to farm-to-table, and for serving breakfast all day. La Rosa is our family’s home away from home – imaginative Mexican food and just a quick walk away. And Elevation at the Culinary Institute is the place for cutting edge cuisine prepared by the great chefs of tomorrow.
Best Piece of Advice For First Time Visitors To Bend?
