Visitor Center Manager
Working for Visit Bend allows me the opportunity to share my passion about my town. Prior to moving to Bend in 2004, my family and I would vacation in Bend and Sunriver. My husband’s job as Brewmaster at Deschutes Brewery gave us the chance to move to a favorite part of the country. Now as owners of Crux Fermentation Project, we are busier than ever, and love to break away to Nordic ski, hike or kayak.
What’s Your Favorite Bend Adventure?
There are so many adventures to be had in and around Bend that it’s hard to choose a favorite. But a trip to Sparks Lake last summer is at the top of our list. This mountain lake is beautiful and ideal for canoeing and kayaking. Spectacular views and lava outcroppings make it a special place.
What’s Your Favorite Dining Spot?
With so many wonderful dining options in Bend, we still have yet to try them all. The Caribbean Benedict is my favorite breakfast at the Victorian Café. Other favorite spots are Jackson’s Corner, Broken Top Bottle Shop and Brother Jon’s.
Best Piece Of Advice For First Time Visitors To Bend?
All visitors should experience the High Desert Museum. It’s a jewel in Bend’s backyard. You can learn the history of Central Oregon, see live animals and Birds of Prey and numerous exhibits. My son has volunteered there since he was 12 and has discovered a passion with the raptors that he plans to pursue next year in college. A special place that everyone can enjoy.
