Steve is an Oregon Native. Born in Astoria, he was raised on the Oregon coast. His first introduction to Bend was on fishing trips to Central Oregon in the 1960’s. Steve’s parents purchased a condo in Sunriver in the early 70’s. During his nationwide 40 year career as a school administrator, Steve spent many of his summer vacations golfing, fishing or floating the local rivers and his winter vacations skiing Mt Bachelor. In 2010 he moved to Bend from Arlington, Virginia.
What’s Your Favorite Bend Adventure?
I enjoy the adventures that Central Oregon has to offer. My wife, Shari, and I like taking our dog, Kelso, on kayak trips on the lakes and rivers. I enjoy golfing the area’s fantastic golf courses and fly fishing the Crooked, Deschutes and Fall Rivers. If I had to name a favorite adventure it would be the 4th of July when I skied Bachelor in the morning, played 18 at the Woodlands course in Sunriver and finished the day fishing the evening hatch on the Fall River. Only in Bend!
What’s Your Favorite Dining Spot?
Our most-frequented dining spots are based on convenience and dog friendliness. Summertime in Redmond will find Shari & I with Kelso at Smith Rock Brewery in the garden or in the food court at Wild Ride Brewery. Take out from Baldy’s BBQ is a favorite treat, but when we leave the dog at home we hang out at Diego’s, Hola or the Brickhouse. My favorite for mountain sunset dining is the Ranch House at Brasada Ranch.
