The Lava City Roller Dolls are Bend, Oregon’s WFTDA (Women’s Flat Track Derby Association) Bend’s only all-female, flat track roller derby league. Founded in February 2006, Lava City is a skater-run nonprofit and a proud, active member of the WFTDA since 2008. Lava City’s travel teams, the Smokin’ Ashes and the Spit Fires, and our junior derby team, the Cinder Kittens, both compete across Oregon and throughout the entire western region. Real. Strong. Athletic. Revolutionary. They welcome skaters of all shapes, sizes and abilities, whether you’re just learning to skate, haven’t been on skates in years or are transferring from another league, they would love to have you join the fun! Their new skater training program is open to women ages 18 and up. The Cinder Kittens is the junior team for girls (and boys) ages 10-17. With the assistance of Lava City coaches, Cinder Kittens skaters learn not only skating skills and the game of roller derby, they also learn self-confidence, athleticism and teamwork. Their bouts are a lot of fun to attend and you’ll realize you’re shouting along even if you didn’t know what roller derby was at the beginning of the night.
