Tumalo State Park along the Deschutes River just about 5 miles north of Bend makes it convenient to go to the grocery store or get to any type of outdoor activity you want. Close to streams, pristine alpine lakes, miles of challenging yet scenic hiking and mountain bike trails, and the Cascade Mountains. Open all year for both camping and day use, winter recreation is just up the road at Mt. Bachelor and the surrounding sno-parks If you are not fond of the lifts. The campground with 23 full hookup sites and 54 tent sites is both quaint and quiet and has reservable options to stay in one of the seven yurts or camp in your own tent or RV. There are also two seasonal group camping areas and group picnic areas, a seasonal hiker/biker camp, showers and flush toilets, firewood and ice sales (in season), and four campsites and one yurt are accessible to campers with disabilities. Fees for day use are $5 per vehicle, and camping and yurt rates range from $8 for hiker/biker camping to $56 for a pet-friendly yurt.
