A community chorus that is part of the music department at Central Oregon Community College (COCC), the Cascade Chorale formed in 1949 when the college itself was founded. With members who are still in high school and others who have been singing with the group for over 30 years, the group performs three formal concerts each year in December, March, and June with a repertoire from all styles and periods of choral music. The annual December Holiday Magic concert is held at the Tower Theatre in downtown Bend, accompanied by a full orchestra. A one-credit class at COCC, the Cascade Chorale meets Tuesday evenings and is welcome to all who enjoy singing in a large, SATB choral group. Their mission is to provide an opportunity for talented vocalists to sing together and prepare a variety of enriching, enjoyable and educational concerts for the community, under the direction of James Knox, Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Central Oregon Community College.
