Born on the dirt trails, gravel roads, and paved grades to the west of Bend, Oregon, The Best of Both weekend presents the ultimate test of a bike rider’s skill, endurance, and sense of adventure. Redesigned for 2021, our off-road courses traverse classic Northwestern terrain. Remote gravel service roads, dirt dual-track, and bermed-out single-track carve lines through remote pine forests and into the volcanic abyss. Our road sections are also typical to the region, with undulating surfaces that rise and fall and ultimately summit our local icon, Mount Bachelor, at 6,500 feet above sea level. The Cascade Mountains’ snow-caps provide a stunning backdrop to an 87-mile course that navigates Bend’s prehistoric lake country. If you choose to look up, you will find inspiration in the unspoiled natural beauty of this region.
We welcome riders of all ages, genders, and experience levels. We cater to those who wish to genuinely race in our dedicated “Open Solo” (Men’s and Women’s) categories. We encourage teamwork in our Relays, and for those who wish to challenge themselves to simply complete this unique and diverse course, we offer a fully supported and segment-timed “Challenge Ride.”
For 2021, we host The Best of Both (Saturday) and Mixed Surface Showdown (Sunday morning) from the Seventh Mountain Resort in Bend, Oregon.
