The 2019 Best of Both
Join us in Bend for the most unique, one-day endurance cycling event in north America. The Best of Both challenges riders to complete a 62-mile mountainous road course, before transitioning to a mountain bike and racing over 23-miles of fast, technical and flowing single-track to the finish.
We welcome bike riders with a diverse range of skill and experience levels.
- The Open solo category – Go it alone over the entire 85-mile course
- The 2-rider Team Relay – One rider on the roam hands off to a teammate for the singletrack
- The Doubles race – two teammates work together over the entire course.
Staging from the Wanoga sno-park on the lower slopes of Mount Bachelor, the Best of Both combines 62-miles of high altitude pavement, and 23-miles of famed, Bend, single-track, into one stunning 85-mile race course.
Our separate Men’s and Women’s “Open Solo” categories present the ultimate test of fitness and endurance. Riders traverse both sections of the course, with a bike switch encouraged at a transition point in the event village.
Our COED Relay challenges teams of two to split the workload. One rider tackles the road course, handing off to a teammate that slays it on the trails. The new “Doubles” category calls for teams of two to work together over the entire course – the ultimate dream-team scenario.
And for those who prefer to take their time, ride in a group, and take in the beautiful scenery of this mountainous region, our fully supported Challenge Ride facilitates a more leisurely pace with feed stations and mechanical support to ensure that the day goes smoothly.
With identical purse and prize structures for the Men and Women’s fields, and a host of new age group divisions in all categories, the Best of Both offers a unique a rewarding cycling challenge to riders of all ages and ability.
