The Bend Farmers Market is blossoming into one of Oregon’s leading farm–direct marketplaces. It brings growers and producers of fresh, local, healthy foods, and agricultural goods to the Bend community every Wednesday from May to October. You’ll find everything you need from fruits and vegetables, to meat, poultry, dairy, sweet treats and flowers. The goal is to create and sustain a centralized market that provides fresh and local produce and farm products to the Central Oregon community, providing a viable market for local farmers, and enhancing the business, nutritional, and community health of Central Oregon. The Bend Farmer’s Market offers a Farm to School program, incorporating the Bend Farmer’s Market products into the school lunch program for the Bend–LaPine School District. The program helps students eat better and teaches them about nutrition. They even get a deeper connection to food sources through visiting local farms, gardening and recycling programs. Farmers benefit by teaching students and having another place to distribute their harvest.
