Beer's Sassier Cousin
Bend’s Cider Scene
Make some room beer; another bubbly beverage in town is joining in the effervescent fun; Cider!
Bend, Oregon Cider embodies refreshing, balanced, and crisp flavors using some of the finest and juiciest ingredients in the Northwest. Enjoy an ice-cold can after an epic day of mountain bike riding or gather around the campfire with friends on a brilliant star-filled evening with a bottle of soul-warming cider. Come sun or snow, there’s nothing like a locally made hard cider to make you feel right at home in Bend.
Hard ciders are fermented from real fruits and juices, are naturally gluten-free and are made in a variety of fruity and herbaceous flavors. What makes Bend ciders so darn delicious? Our Northwest ingredients. It starts with the fresh cold water running down the Cascade Mountains. Add that to local ingredients like Hood River Apples and pears, huckleberries, blackberries, and even notes of juniper berries, and you’ve got yourself an authentic taste of the NW served up in a glass, bottle, or can.
One of the first cider breweries to hit Bend was AVID Cider Company. They make 100% authentic, fresh cold-pressed fruit ciders using only Northwest fruit sources. Featured flavors include apple, cherry, blackberry, and apricot. The town of Tumalo features two cider tap rooms within walking distance of each other. Tumalo Cider Company and Bend Cider Company specialize in dry cider with creative flavor combos such as Huckleberry Ginger and Mandarin Juniper. And most breweries, restaurants, and taprooms offer a cider or two for those who don’t always crave a gluten-filled hopped beverage.
