Located upstairs in Bend’s Cascade Village Shopping Center, Moose Sisters is a bit out of the way but worth the hunt. The restaurant was originally conceived in Sun Valley, Idaho, but when the owner relocated to Bend, she brought the idea with her and never looked back. Moose Sisters’ spacious location is sophisticated cool but the warm service is signature Bend. Get ready for a little indecision because, lunch or dinner, this is one big, tempting menu. And no, there are no actual moose dishes, but you will see elk, oysters, Dungeness crab, and lamb, along with a number of hearty salads and soups, grilled sandwiches, pasta dishes, and the house specialty, chicken and waffles. All menu items are Northwest inspired but have far-flung influences, including Thai, Creole, and Japanese. Moose Sisters also sources many local items, and it doesn’t get much more local than their rooftop garden, which produces herbs, greens, and other tasty items during Central Oregon’s short growing season. Of course, Moose Sisters isn’t called “Food with Spirit” for nothing. Their cocktail menu is as extensive as you’ll find anywhere in town and bubbling with creativity, and the list of craft beers and regional wines is just as robust. Moose Sisters is open daily for lunch from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., happy hour from 3:00 p.m-5:30 p.m., and dinner from 4:00 p.m.-close.
