You want old school Bend, you want Pilot Butte Drive-In. This old time Bend tradition occupies a converted A&W building on Greenwood Ave right next to- you guessed it- Pilot Butte. This classic place is centered around a fireplace and features burgers, fries, shakes and everything else you would expect in a throwback dream. They also have an outside eating space and, true to its name, you can stay in your car to order and they’ll bring your food out to you. You’ll miss out if you just come for the lunches and dinners, though, because Pilot Butte also serves café breakfasts fit for the golden age. After 29 years, a place like this earns a place in its community, and part of the legend is the Pilot Butte Burger, an 18-ounce monster. Slinging more than 40,000 burgers a year, you can be part of the tradition. They are open 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. seven days a week.
