The Metolius River Trail follows this beautiful spring-fed river with many options available for hikes and trail runs along it’s length.
The West Metolius River Trail is a great 2.5 mile section of the river that heads upstream from the hatchery along the west bank ending at Canyon Creek Campground. Or shorten your hike by turning around at the 2 mile mark, where an 80-foot spring pours into the river. You’ll pass several areas where river stewards have worked hard to restore stream banks and help damaged vegetation recover, so do your part by watching your step.
The East Metolius Trail begins at the Riverside Campground and parallels the east side of the Metolius River, ending at the Lower Bridge Campground. There are many opportunities for out-and-back hikes or trail runs along this section.
