More than a walk in the woods! This experience is guided by Certified Forest Bathing experts who provide you with a truly unique outdoor practice. Your journey begins with a Forest Immersion that engages your senses and welcomes you into full presence within the forest atmosphere. You are then offered a series of invitations designed to deepen your relationship with nature. Each invitation is followed by a sharing circle where you can connect and learn with other participants. Forest bathing not only opens you more deeply to the natural world, but to the human world as well. This two-hour practice ends with a tea ceremony. Tea and snacks provided.
This practice was developed in Japan in 1982 as a way to combat negative health impacts of spending too much time indoors in front of screens. Called “Shinrin-Yoku” – which translates directly as Forest Bathing in English – the practice is a response to the stress of modern life. Forest Bathing rekindles our innate connections with nature, providing physical and mental benefits.
Forest Bathing opens us up to a unique wellness experience in nature. The sensory practices teach us to slow down and fully engage in our outdoor environment. You will leave feeling connected to the natural world on a deep level. You will experience multiple physical and mental health benefits. Studies show that Forest Bathing can decrease blood pressure, heart rate, and cortisol levels, and reduce anxiety and depression. Studies also show that participants’ immune response can increase by 20 percent and last for days after a walk. Elevated mood and creativity are also benefits.
Bend’s vast expanses of forest and wildlands provide ideal immersion locales. Our Forest Baths take place at Shevlin Park and Tumalo State Park – settings that feel miles away but are only minutes from downtown Bend. There are more location options for private events. Forest Bathing can be a memorable part of wedding festivities, birthday parties, family reunions, or informal friend gatherings. Forest Baths can be excellent components of corporate wellness and team building events. Private events can be anywhere from two hours in length or longer. We would be happy to customize a bespoke experience for your unique needs.
