Here is a jam packed one day itinerary to get you a quick taste of what Bend Oregon is truly all about!
Breakfast is definitely the most important part of the day. There are plenty of breakfast places in this town, and definitely more that we may recommend. However I recommend the Lemon Tree because not only do they offer amazing food options, but it doesn’t leave you feeling bloated and fatigued. You’ll be ready to take on the day!
Following breakfast go down to the High Desert Museum, about 10 minutes South on 97. This museum is extremely well done, and entertaining for the whole family! It is definitely easy to spend half a day here!
Once you finally pull yourself away from the museum, it would be a great time to explore the Downtown and Old Mill area. Maybe even grab yourself some grub, you’ve earned it! But I can’t begin to recommend one specific thing… There is just too much good food. Go with your gut or maybe even continue looking at more food love lists for ideas!
Downtown Bend and the Old Mill are connected through a paved trail system that takes you between the two which is great for walking the distance. Both areas of town are great for shopping, finding delicious food/cocktails and hanging out with friends and family. If you are looking to do some more walking, then just south of Old Mill is Farewell Bend Park and follow the trail a mile and a half before turning around at a bridge. This three mile round trip hike is in town but without the feeling of still being in town.
If you want a tour of the city, then visit Bend Tour Company for a fun, unique experience. If you’re looking for some fun wheels to cruise around on, then check out Wheel Fun for some afternoon rentals.
Top off the evening by driving/biking/hiking to the top of Pilot Butte to enjoy the sunset over the Southern Cascades.
