A Pacific Northwest One Stop Shopping Tradition
When Fred Meyer first opened in Bend, it was on the forefront of a revolutionary concept now commonly known as ‘one stop shopping’. A Portland, Oregon-based company, the first Fred Meyer store was opened in 1922. Located on 3rd St in central-south Bend, Fred’s now offers a gas station, a CHASE Bank store, a pharmacy and a garden center in addition to their range of groceries, clothing, shoes and accessories, children’s department, bakery/deli, furniture and home goods, and sporting goods. With a generous bulk foods section, growler fill area and several aisles of organic groceries, Fred Meyer has changed to keep up with current demand. In addition, they now offer their ClickList service. You can order your groceries through your account on their website, let them know when you arrive in the parking lot and someone will bring your pre-shopped groceries out to you waiting in your car. Costs vary, so check the website for details.
