Journey Church launched in 2010 and currently shares a space with Chi Restaurant right on the Newport Ave bridge in downtown Bend. Despite their downtown location, they have their own parking lot. The church’s beginning was supported and commissioned by New Hope Church in Bend with a clear vision: to do what’s not being done in order to reach people not being reached. From its inception, Journey has sought to be “a church for those who don’t like church”. They offer three services every Sunday at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 6:00 p.m. Journey Kids meets downstairs at the same time the adult services are conducted in the upstairs sanctuary under the careful eye of ‘heroes’ who have participated in training and background check. They offer specific programming throughout the week for children, middle school-aged kids, high schoolers, men and women with a variety of events like retreats, book clubs, and small groups.
