Located in the heart of Bend’s Westside, the Newport Avenue Church of Christ calls themselves a “fellowship of Christians, bound together by a shared faith in Jesus Christ and respect for one another, ” and is not affiliated with any denomination. They are a Bible-centered church and a diverse group, coming from a wide range of backgrounds and representing different stages of knowledge and spiritual growth. The church offers weekly online lessons from Dean Catlett, who has served as the church’s minister for over 45 years. His past sermons can also be downloaded from the site for deeper study and reflection. The church’s current mission interests include Support for Children in Need, Helping Feed our Neighbors, and Spiritual Support for Students. Three services are held on Sundays, and an Adult Study Class is offered on Wednesday evenings.
