River Woods Church was established in 1983 and is located on Bend’s far south end in the Deschutes River Woods development, off Baker Rd. River Woods calls itself a place you can “connect, a place where you will have opportunity to encounter God, build relationships, worship God through music and listen to the Word of God applied in a practical way”. They frequently feature their services live on Facebook. Their services are held Sundays from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The River Woods Church is of the Baptist denomination, the largest free church denomination in the world. River Woods Church says it is “changing lives one life at a time by loving God and people”. They host numerous events, like potlucks around the holidays, a ladies’ bunco evening and more. The congregation is led by pastor Rene’ Houle and his wife, Kim. They are tied into the community food pantry program in Central Oregon and can be a resource for those in need.
