Located in The Forum Shopping Center near Costco on Bend’s east side, Barnes and Noble Booksellers features toys and games in addition to books, an extensive newsstand, movies and DVDs, as well as music. There’s also a Starbucks café with a cozy, four-sided fireplace for hanging out with your new book, complete with a wide selection of coffee drinks, teas and food. An unusual offering is their opportunity to read entire e-books in the store for free if you have a NOOK e-reader when you download the Nook app and access the store’s free Wi-Fi. Their large travel section attracts globe trotters and they feature seasonal gifts and a staff ready to assist you in finding the book you’re searching for.
They keep their events calendar plenty full with kids’ story times, a wide variety of author readings, games and activities hours, educator appreciation days, and more. The store features a large children’s section with a special space dedicated to children’s programming.
