ReStore on Thurston Avenue, just off North 3rd Street in Bend is pretty hard to miss. The distinctive exterior of the new location defies description, but we’ll give it a shot. How about eclectic meets junkyard meets rugged industrial to create a building façade you won’t soon forget? Inside, there is a whole lot of good going on because every purchase supports Bend Habitat for Humanity, the local branch of Habitat for Humanity International. The goal of ReStore is to provide new and used building materials and other home products at an affordable price so that home improvement is accessible to all. And at the Bend ReStore, there is so much to be had, they can’t fit it in one building. At first glance, the store may appear to be in utter disarray, but after a minute you’ll find that items have been thoughtfully categorized. Plumbing supplies and fixtures, doors and windows, paint supplies, furniture, flooring, tile, lumber, gardening items, tools; this is reusing and upcycling at its very best and it’s all for a great, local cause. ReStore is open Tuesday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., so check them out before you head to the big box store.
