The Silver Otter opened this first location between Old Bend and the Old Mill District on Industrial Way in 2012 and in 2017 opened a second location on the East side of town. Both shops feature a broad selection of gemstones, jewelry, crystals, & fair trade accessories, however since most of what they sell is one of a kind, items can vary between the shops. Their jewelry collection spans from delicate gold filled ruby necklaces handmade in California, to bold moonstones set in elegant Balinese sterling silver, all high quality and made by hand. They also offer fair trade crafts from Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil, Tibet, India, Nepal, Morocco, South Africa, Madagascar, Haiti, Kenya, Ghana, Senegal, Bali, Thailand, and China. Fair Trade certification ensures that artisans are being paid a fair price for their work and that artisans are given an opportunity to earn a living through local traditions and modern practices. The shop also sells stones and crystals, with a wide variety of tumble stones, specimens, crystals, freeforms, and more. Check their site or call the different numbers listed for store hours, as they vary when attending gem shows.
