Established in 1985, Central Oregon Collective (formerly RAP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with developmental/intellectual and/or physical disabilities, as well as other members of the community who experience barriers to full participation to community life. With a focus on support, quality of life, and community inclusion, Central Oregon Collective has six residential homes in Bend, each offering 24-hour care while creating an independent environment where residents are free to relax, enjoy time with friends and work outside of the home. Central Oregon Collective’s staff also offers in-home support, and a community inclusion program (CIP) that focus on community integration. CIP outings have included trips to the Oregon coast, visits to local rivers and lakes, and other enriching excursions. A new Community Center serves as the organization’s headquarters and is available for rental to like-minded nonprofit organizations, businesses and community groups. Located on Bend’s Eastside, the space is fully ADA-accessible, accommodates well over 100 people depending upon the event’s configuration, and includes a full commercial kitchen. Central Oregon Collective’s intention is to share the Community Center with mission-oriented individuals and organizations to “further their causes by offering a space to help enrich their efforts.”
