Honey Don’t is the musical union of Bill Powers and Shelley Gray, a duo also well known as one half of Colorado’s old-time bluegrass band, Sweet Sunny South. While they hail from the Rockies, they currently call Central Oregon home and have brought with them acoustic and electric music that is based in the folk tradition with bluegrass and old-time at its deepest roots. Bill is a well-respected, award-winning songwriter and Shelley is a skilled bass player and vocalist. They’ve been making music together for well over a decade and, as Honey Don’t, have hit the top 40 National Americana charts and been named one of five nominees in the bluegrass category for Westword Magazine’s 2010 Showcase. Whether it’s a sweet love song, a tribute to veterans, or a rocking boogie-woogie number, their music is always delivered in a comfortable, casual way that pulls the listener in and has them hanging on every word.
