Cultus Lake is one of the most popular of the high Cascade Lakes because it is one of the largest and deepest in Central Oregon, and because it is one of the few that allows high speed motorized water craft. The pristine, tree-rimmed lake is bustling with summertime fun seekers waterskiing, windsurfing, swimming, sailing, and jet skiing on the lake as well as hiking and biking the trails that lead north into the Three Sisters Wilderness. Cultus Lake campground has 55 sites that are tent, trailer or RV friendly and many are well-shaded and right on the water. Sites are not conducive to large luxury coaches and most sites are recommended for RVs that are less than 30 feet, in part because the gravel roads are rutted and not ideal for large RVs. There is a walk-in boat launch area within the campground as well as drinking water stations and several vault toilets. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and a fire pit with a grill. Because Cultus Lake is so popular, camp site reservations are strongly recommended. The campground’s season opening and closing dates vary so call or visit the web site for specific dates and reservations.
