For campers looking for a place that is a little off the beaten path, McKay Crossing Campground is calling your name. Located along Paulina Creek and just under 30 miles southeast of Bend, McKay Crossing Campground provides campers with seclusion from the main road and the tranquility of hearing the creek flow. This peaceful area is ideal for just sitting back and relaxing, or for bird watching, particularly in the wetlands located west of the campground. If exploring is on your list, the campground provides easy access to a number of hiking and biking trails. Newberry Volcanic Monument is also close by and provides a unique opportunity to view the Lava Lands of Central Oregon, including 54,000+ acres of lakes, lava flows, and spectacular geologic features. McKay Crossing Campground consists of 16 sites and the per night, per site fee is $10 for the first vehicle and $5 for each additional vehicle. While reservations are not allowed, the area gets fairly light usage and does not fill up quickly.
