As part of two campgrounds commonly referred to as the Hosmer Lake campgrounds, South Campground has a popular day use area for fishing, hiking, horseback riding, bird watching, and canoeing, with a boat ramp on Hosmer Lake, and 23 campsites that are large and pretty much secluded from one another by stands of lodgepole pine. The maximum site spur length is 26 feet, and there is no water, but there is a vault toilet. The following sites are reservable through Hoodoo Recreation: 001-010, 017, 019, 021-023 by calling 877.444.6777. The per night, per site fee, is $12 for the first vehicle and $6 for each additional vehicle. The day use fee is $5/vehicle/day at Hosmer Lake Boating Site, which is adjacent to South Campground. Fly fishing and non-motorized boats are allowed. Open seasonally mid-May to the end of September, check the website for exact dates per season.
