South Shore Campgrounds is one of three campgrounds located on the south side of Suttle Lake, about 15 miles northwest of Sisters. Shaded by large Ponderosa pines on a lake favored by windsurfers, and fishermen alike, there is also a boat launch within this campground. With a third of the 38 campsites on the lake’s shore and the rest are within view of the lake and an easy walk to the boat ramp, the sites are large, and reservations can be made online through Recreation.gov and by calling toll free 877.444.6777. Camping fees per night, per site fee, is $18 for the first vehicle, $9 for each additional vehicle, and a multi-site is $30. The maximum site spur length is 50 feet, there is potable water, and a vault toilet. The restroom buildings and some sites are accessible, but routes are not. Day use fees are $5/vehicle/day at South Shore boating site, and a fish cleaning station is available near the day use area. Boating is open to non-motorized boats and motorized boats. Open seasonally from May to October, check online for the specific dates.
